The series has the following distinct features:
- It is comprehensive as it follows the scope chart prescribed in the Philippine Elementary Learning Competencies by the Department of Education.
- The fi rst chapter introduces the science process skills of observing, inferring, measuring, classifying,controlling variables, predicting, formulating hypothesis, and experimenting.
- Many simple experiments are incorporated in the text wherever relevant. These experiments can be performed with easy-to-make apparatus, many of which can be comfortably improvised by the students themselves.

The series comes with a Teacher’s Manual which contains semi-detailed lesson plans that can guide the teachers in the preparation and execution of the lessons. Some pages from the textbooks can be seen here to assist the teacher in finding the topic being discussed in the manual.
- The Teacher’s Manual contains the Scope and Sequence of the course showing the Subject Matter and the Objectives of the lesson.
- Semi-detailed lesson plans are supplied to assist the teacher in the presentation of the lesson. This includes the Lesson Title, the different stages where the lesson is introduced, discussed, experimented, generalized, and applied.
- The manual also shows pictures of pages from the textbook for easy referral of the teacher. Answer Keys to the activities and exercises are also provided.
